Had a lot of fun building this kit. Has everything I needed with only a small angle issue with the neck cutout that I was not entirely able to rectify, but due to the adjustability of the bridge and tailpieces is not an issue.
Decided to clear seal the kit as the colour was interesting and something I haven't see in a 'Les Paul' before.
Recommendations to Blackbeard crew - proper wiring diagram should be attached as the pots are not (in my case) wired as per most instructions (tone vs. volume pots - A vs. B). Diagram on the site is confusing due to overlapping wires that should not be shown as such.
Wire colours in the wiring section of the instructions change randomly so don't make sense (Yellow becomes Black). A proof re-read should be done from time to time.
None of this detracts from a fun project of learning how to solder and build. Google is your friend and very happy with the end result :-)
The quality of the kit is decent, neck was about 5mm to big to fit into body had to sand down quite a bit to get it to fit in, nut seems to be filed to deep so I am going to replace it in near future, 3way switch is faulty working on 2 positions but the third registers as center, the bridge and tail piece post holes on my kit was drilled to big even after thick layers of clear coat bushings have nothing to hold onto and can fall out without any resistance had to fix this, all in all not bad kit but MOST DEFINITELY NOT FOR BEGINNERS especially with getting the oversized neck to fit and more importantly getting it to align correctly. Not sure if issues i had was an isolated incident or if quality control is not up to par. At end of the day I build my own guitar and I'm happy with how it turned out
Reall easy to build
After being impressed with the quality of the Tele kit, I was disappointed by this one unfortunately. Screws missing for the input jack plate, the neck was nowhere near being able to fit the body so some extensive chiselling was required and the wiring diagram is a nightmare. Had to start completely from scratch with the electronics. A shame considering my first experience was so positive.
Few woodfiller spots show up with finish but not setious. Lovely flame maple top.
