I just completed this 335-style kit and I love it. The body and beck needed very little sanding. I left it natural. The part fit together perfectly. I didn’t have to touch the nut (which I usually do with other manufacturer’s kits). This was my first Blackbeard kit and it won’t be my last. I have made a dozen or more guitars from kits and Blackbeard is now my go to brand. I could be happier.

To be fair, this is not a Blackbeards Den failure... The headstock jointstart at fret 3 or thereabouts on the underside of the neck.. It look like the gluing and clamping process caused the neck to have a negative curve and the strings don't clear the first 3 frets when tensioned for tuning.
The truss rod is completely loose and is designed to correct positive curve under tension.
Also, because the neck is set-in, it is glued in place prior to all the set-up and fretwork dressing, so unfortunately the bodywork is also lost in this process.. I tried to remove the fretboard, and found that modern day glues really stick... The end result is now a wall decor piece in my studio.
Ross has assured me that once we get out of COVID-19 Lockdown, they will resolve the problem and we can start again.
Some general advice: Check the neck curve before you start building or gluing anything.... With the truss-rod loose, there should be a slight positive curve or the neck should be flat and will curve slightly under string tension.
This is one of those anomalies,,, we will get it sorted, and my thanks to Ross for responding quickly and positively.... More builds to come... SG is next after the ES is replaced and completed.

Great looking kit, neck lovely and smooth, fretwork looks good. Body has been finished nicely with great looking grain however there are a couple of glue stains which i'm worried may cause issues with staining and i'm disappointed with the lightness of the body - i'dmuch prefer a solid weighty feel closer to the real thing.
